Cheryl has a love of children and enjoys building confidence in their ability to learn.

She especially focuses on teaching to all of the learning differences in order to assist each child in achieving success.

Cheryl is MAT certified and certified in CPR and First Aid.

Val is a retired second grade teacher, who previously taught in the Mayfield District.

She enjoys spending time with her family, crocheting, reading, and traveling.

Val brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our Center, and we are honored to have her.

Kathy Kelly

4-5 Year Old PreK Classroom

Kathy has countless years of experience caring for children, and does so in an extremely nurturing manner.

She has volunteered in a variety of capacities, most of which involve her children.  She comes to Bright Futures from a life skills program where she served as the Director of Education.

Samantha Coppola

Samantha Coppola

3 Year Old Classroom

Samantha has 15 years experience working with children ranging in age from infant to 12 years old.  She loves to bring science and math into the classroom by cooking and working with food, hands on learning and sensory play.

Sarah Hafter

3 Year Old Classroom

Sarah has worked with children in a variety of settings.  She loves using hands on learning in the classroom letting children explore and learn for themselves.  She is a very caring and compassionate teacher who actively engages in learning and play.

Sarah enjoys reading and playing with her dog Piper.

Amanda Simonds

Infant Room

Amanda has experience working with children ranging from infant to teens for over 20 years.

She has run programs in Head Start, has a CNA in Nursing, and has worked as a firefighter and volunteer in an ambulance squad.

Amanda is very nurturing and goes above and beyond for students.

Beth Hines

Beth has several years experience in Special Education and childcare.  She is a very compassionate individual who bring her creativity and enthusiasm to the classroom.

Beth develops caring relationships with her students and teaches them to be independent, learning from the world around them.

Lanette Scharr

2 Year Old Classroom

 LaNette has been employed with BFLC since November 4, 2019, as Assistant Teacher in the Toddler Room. Recently, LaNette became Lead Teacher. She possesses an Associates Degree from Fulton-Montgomery Community College, where she completed an internship with Truax Road Head Start. She has also completed course work through Sage College in Troy in Interior Design, and uses this knowledge to inspire creativity in the classroom. LaNette spent some of her career as a Home Health Care Provider. She brings patience, gentleness and kindness to her students at Bright Futures, and greatly enjoys engaging the children in learning. She is a mother of three adult daughters and resides in Broadalbin.

 Ashley is currently the Assistant Teacher in the Toddler Room and has worked in the Three Year Old and Infant Rooms at Bright Futures, also. Prior to working at Bright Futures, Ashley worked with autistic children for three years in New York City, and has worked in a local day care for two years. She has an Associates Degree in Human Services from Herkimer County Community College, Ashley has a love of children and is extremely patient and understanding. She has one daughter who is a student at Bright Futures and resides in Gloversville.

We have recently welcomed Amy back to our team at Bright Futures. Amy earned an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, and a Masters in Education with a minor in Reading and Literacy. Amy has worked for HFM BOCES for 12 years in grades Pre-K through 12. Amy is an asset to our Center, and our students benefit greatly from her energy, enthusiasm and talent. Amy has two daughters, a son and two granddaughters. She resides in Mayfield.

Melanie is the Assistant Teacher in the Infant Room. Melanie has a wealth of experience with children, and has excelled particularly with Art Education and assisting the children with using their imagination. She has worked with children for fifteen years of all ages, and has two daughters of her own. Melanie resides in Mayfield.
